On Saturday April 17, 2010 the Rt. Rev. Barry L. Beisner consecrated Tina Ferriot to the Single Life as a vowed celibate. The Eucharistic Service was held at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Carmichael. The day was a glorious one, marking a new life Profession for Tina in a covenant with Christ and in renewing her Franciscan vows as a professed member of the Third Order of the Society of St. Francis.
This Consecration Service to the Single Life is a historical event in its contextual reference to the Third Order of the Society of St. Francis in the Province of the Americas, and in the Diocese of Northern California. A new Service model was created from a Third Order member's Consecration Service performed only once before in the European Province. The 158 guests represented a diverse group of family and friends. A reception followed, serving as a wonderful blessing of the gift of hospitality.
During her discernment, there were many who gave Tina spiritual support including Bishop Barry Beisner, a Spiritual Director, her Rector, the First Order Franciscan Sisters in San Francisco and Third Order Franciscan Area Chaplain and Chapter members.
